Gasp! I’ve been tagged! Do you believe it? Giovanna (and yes, I will get you back) has tagged me and I’ve accepted the challenge. OK, so it’s not as if I have to do something all that difficult, but I am kind of excited to have been tagged, so here goes….
Hilda Carrol at Living out Loud is compiling a list of uplifting songs. Actually, she put it much more poetically as: Songs that make your heart sing. You know, the kind of song that, as soon as you hear it, puts you in a better mood or the one that you resort to when you need a pick-me-up. As a lover of all types of music (well, I must admit, there are some types that I prefer to avoid), I found it a little bit difficult because there are so many songs that I find uplifting. There are songs that make you want to dance and just make you happy, or songs that fill you with hope. On the other side of the coin, there are even songs that can make you sad or angry. But, the key here is, to pick the first song that comes to mind. So, focus on uplifting (rather than all the other things I mentioned) and the first thing that came to my mind was…..
-by R Kelly
I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
[1]
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
[Repeat 1]
Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
[Repeat 1]
Hey, if I just spread my wings
I can fly
I can fly
I can fly, hey
If I just spread my wings
I can fly
Fly-eye-eye
What could be more uplifting than that?
Now, the question is, who do I tag. I have chosen among some of my favorite blogs, although it was hard making a choice. (And yes, I do need to get around to updating my Blogroll over there in the right-hand column, but it always escapes me.)
So, here you are, I’ve chosen 3 other expats here in Italy to add their songs to the list:
Cynthia Rae at Re-Boot: A new life in Italy
Giulia at From Head to Boot KC at Niente di nuovo avviene sotto il sole
If you want to play along, the rules are very simple:
1. Post about the song(s) that makes your heart sing, and uplifts your spirit every it’s played. If you can provide a link to lyrics and/or audio that would be fabulous. But it’s not essential, so don’t worry about it if you can’t.
2. Include a trackback to this post
3. Tag three others and ask them to include a trackback to your post and Hilda Carroll’s site.

Ha Ha Ha…getting me back is fair enough, as long it doesn’t involve the translation of my Birth Certificate (which is technically wrong anyway)!!!

Thanks for the tag! I just posted my song (actually there were two, because the first thing I thought of was orchestral.) Here it is: http://karenuccia.blogspot.com/2007/06/another-day-another-meme.html
