Hammered Copper

We recently had a festival here in town called “Tra le mura del borgo”. In the medieval section of town a market was set up and local vendors selling typical products of the region had stands in the market.

One of the stands featured hand-hammered copper pieces, some of which were truly unique.

Here are some pictures:

Of course, there were lots of other goodies – olive oil, cheese from our friends at LaBruna, ventricina from Mondolani here in Palmoli, etc. The evening was topped off with music from “Lu Cantastorie”, a group from Lanciano that sings traditional Abruzzese songs.

I’m just remembering that growing up we had quite a few miniature copper items that looked a lot like the vessels in the second photo. I wonder if they came from Abruzzo!

Maybe. The items were gorgeous, and rather pricey. We have a handmade copper pot that someone had given O. It’s amazing how they are made.
