Made in America – Peach Crisp

I absolutely love peaches, so I’m definitely going to have to make Judith’s Peach Crisp.  Looking at the picture, I can almost smell the warm peaches mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg.  Believe me, my mouth is watering. Head on over to her place, Think on It, to get the recipe.

DanDan Voice

Luigi has a couple of jumpsuits with dogs on the feet and lately he’s been extremely interested in them – so much so that he seems disappointed when I change him and they’re no longer there.  He grabs at them and talks to them and they help keep him busy – an extra added benefit [...]

Is this a gift?

Whenever you buy something here in Italy that could possibly be a gift, you’ re always asked if it is one.  If so, the store will gift wrap it (usually at no extra cost).  I like the extra touch and it’s certainly handy.  No buying rolls of wrapping paper at Christmas time and I don’t [...]

Another year

Comments & Myspace layouts Another year has gone by.  They seem to get quicker and quicker.  Tomorrow I’ll officially be another year older.  (43, Yikes!!) There’s something about birthdays that make you pause and reflect a bit on life. And, I have to say, I’ve been pretty fortunate.  Yes, I’ve had my bad times and [...]

Made in America – Apple Pie

You knew it was inevitable, didn’t you?  No one could talk about American dishes without mentioning Apple Pie.  And Michelle (and her mom) over at Bleeding Espresso have baked up a delicious one.  Perfect timing too, since it’s apple season and they’re nice and fresh. So, head on over, check out the recipe, then start [...]

I’m Italian….

Lately we’ve been seeing a lot of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on TV here in Italy.  This, of course, is due to the movie that they have done together recently and the film festival in Rome. On one show, and I don’t remember which one, when they were interviewing Pacino (or was it [...]

On the campaign trail

Yes, they are campaigning for President in the U.S., but I’m campaigning for something else. You see, on a whim I submitted Luigi’s photo (this one) to Napisan since they’re holding a contest for the child who will be their spokesperson next year.  And, even though I did it on a whim, I still want [...]

What you can buy from a van

One of the things I love about living in small-town Italy is the vendors that come through selling stuff from the backs of vans or trucks. Now, I’m not talking about the ones that come to the market on Tuesday.  I’m talking about the ones who drive through town, shouting out their wares via loudspeaker [...]

Made in America – Texas style Chicken and Rice

I have to say chicken and rice was always one of my favorites and, although there are some differences between her version and the one I grew up with, the dish that Cherrye has made for us over at My Bella Vita certainly brings back memories. Head on over and check it out. For those [...]

Focus on what really matters

One of my favorite bloggers, Hilda Carroll over at Living out Loud has a very timely topic considering the economic problems going on today.  She mentions some things that I realized a few years ago and that were among the reasons that I moved here to Italy. Here’s a quote: Focus on what really matters. [...]
