Whenever you buy something here in Italy that could possibly be a gift, you’ re always asked if it is one. If so, the store will gift wrap it (usually at no extra cost).
I like the extra touch and it’s certainly handy. No buying rolls of wrapping paper at Christmas time and I don’t have to worry about whether I have the right kind of paper at home when buying a gift.
Now, this gift-wrapping can range from them putting it in a paper gift bag, stapling the bag and tying a ribbon or two around the handle, to an all out wrapped package with ribbons that are split and curled, etc.
Some sales personnel actually take a wrapping class, presumably so they can add some flair to their wrapping.
Yesterday I received a gift with one of the most unique embellishments I’ve ever seen. It was a cologne gift pack, wrapped in heavy pink paper and the wrapper used some of the paper to form a rose on the package. I should have taken a picture before I opened the present, but I didn’t think fast enough.
Isn’t that neat?

That is neat! We only get the stapled bags around here.

It’s mostly stapled bags, but some really go out of their way. I’ve been trying to figure out how they did the rose though.
